CODAR is pleased to announce Radial Suite Software – Release 24 (R24) – is now available.
Those running earlier versions of the Radial Suite can purchase upgrade to the latest Release.
HIGHLIGHTS of the Radial Suite Release 24 (new features since R23) Include:
Automated Hardware Changelogs
Keeping a solid record of system changes is important for troubleshooting by the user and CODAR support team and useful to correlate with any observed differences in data or system performance. Starting with R24, detailed logs of any changes made or commands sent via th SeaSonde Controller are automatically noted in a monthly log file. These aid site operators when reviewing change history and are helpful in troubleshooting. By automation, all changelog entries are made reliably and in a consistent format.
Archivalist Automated Folder Re-Organization
In Archivalist, when changing the archive folder format from one interval style to another (e.g., from monthly to weekly), the software will now automatically re-organize all existing archive folders to that style for uniformity and remove the previous style. This avoids data redundancy and unnecessary disk space usage, which extends the duration before disk fill, potentially spreading time between needed field visits.
Transmit Timing Alignment Added to Radial File Metadata
Transmit timing alignment (aka SHARE timing alignment) that has been recorded in the diagnostic files is, starting with R24, now also located as metadata in the radial files. This is especially useful in the management of large networks, providing the ability to quickly identify radar frequency and timing offsets and avoid duplicate offsets in the network.
CodarProcessor App Improvements
The CodarProcessor app, which was first introduced in R23, has now been updated for better usability. Among improvements is an enhanced automated file sorting method which speeds up the overall reprocessing time. Reprocessing capability is present in the both Radial Suite (Online) and (Offline) software license versions. Although light reprocessing using this app can be performed on radar site computers (while real-time processing is also happening) it is recommended reprocessing be done on a separate computer with a Radial Suite (Offline) software license dedicated to this task, especially when performing large batch reprocessing.
New & Improved Diagnostics
• Improved Quality Vector Count
Within the Radial Diagnostic files (.rdt) is a Radial Vector Count parameter which is a total of all the radial vectors in a radial file for that period. Starting from R24, the Radial Vector Count excludes any flagged vectors (based on the various CODAR flags). By omission of flagged vectors, it is easier to spot changes in the quality vector count.
• New Incident Counts
A new SeaSondeAcquisition diagnostic file STAT_*.qdt is introduced with R24 which now logs SeaSondeAcquisition’s glitch removal counts, dropout counts, acquisition stream restarts, and no signal or no data counts. This can help while troubleshooting noise/interference or hardware issues.
Easy Computer Clean
When re-assigning an existing computer to a new location or beginning the use of a different site code, the new Radial Site Code Roundup script can automatically gather up all of the files for a past site code, remove them from the working operational directories and set aside in a special folder so those files do not interfere with upcoming operation at the new site / new site code.
Quick Site Configuration Based on ITU Band Presets
When setting up a new site or changing a site to a new frequency band, in the latest user interface an operator can select one of the ITU band frequencies and the system will automatically install the preset configuration and waveform parameters appropriate for that frequency. This saves a step for the operator and ensures correct settings for that band are used. Settings adjustments can still be made manually.
Satellite ID Now Displayed in Satellite Constellation View Map
Enhanced constellation view map display now also displays the satellite ID for those satellites centered above your radar site. This is now added to the signal strength which was already visible in R23. Having this enhanced information in the view can be helpful when troubleshooting and provide a better understanding of GPS performance.
R24 is compatible with macOS 12 and above. Review the Radial Suite Release 24 Computer Specifications and Compatibility Matrix document, posted in the CODAR website Support area, or consult with CODAR Support personnel before installing new software.
